Accountis Web E-Payments Platform Gives Scottish and Southern Energy Easy Upgrade

published on: 24/03/06

Accountis, the leading supplier of software and managed service solutions for financial document exchange and payment systems, announced today that Scottish and Southern Energy (LSE - SSE), a FTSE100 company and one of the largest utility companies in the UK, has successfully expanded its use of the Accountis system to process payments for its “talk with” phone services and Blink broadband service.
Scottish and Southern Energy’s main areas of operation are in generation, energy networks, energy supply, gas storage, electrical contracting and connections, appliance retailing and telecoms. The company has been successfully processing customer and supplier transactions using the Accountis system since going live in 2005.

“We have reconfigured our use of the Accountis system to integrate files needed to process e-payments for our new phone and broadband services. We are delighted with how the upgrade has gone. Accountis responded immediately to our requirements and carried out the necessary customisation work quickly. We had originally chosen the Accountis web-based system because it was easy to customise, could be rolled out across all group companies and accessed securely by group employees across the UK. We are very happy with our decision to use Accountis and with the outcome of this project” said Richard Harris, Project
Manager, Scottish and Southern Energy.

Following the successful installation Accountis now processes millions of payment transactions for all four companies in the Scottish and Southern Energy group every month, namely Southern Electric, Scottish Hydro Electric, Atlantic Energy and Gas and SWALEC. Transactions processed are for customer direct debits, payroll, supplier payments and company expenses.

Commenting on the assignment Rhys Jones, Accountis Managing Director, said “The simplicity of this upgrade highlights the benefits Accountis delivers to its customers. Our solution is based on web architecture and therefore allows new features to be added rapidly and cost effectively. This project represents a huge endorsement of Accountis’ technology and our ability to meet the requirements of one of the United Kingdom’s most sophisticated users of e-commerce.”

Scottish and Southern Energy is just one of many listed companies and household names who successfully process e-documents and e-payments using Accountis. The company’s client list also includes T-Mobile, Virgin Retail, Goodyear Dunlop, Singer and Freidlander, Jersey Telecom, Paragon Group and Christian Salvesen.
